Welcome to the Cruiser Racing section of THYC.
If you are interested in sailing and having fun with a little competative edge or just cruising we would love to hear from you. You don't need to own a boat as there is always a need for crew.
If you do own a boat any type of cruiser can take part. We race using North East Racing Rule (Nerr) handicap system which allows different boats to compete so even the slowest boat can win. The competition is for enjoyment and to improve your sailing ability.

CRUISER RACING
Race season runs every Sunday & Wednesday from April to November & the handicapping system caters for all levels of ability from novice to expert.
Club racing takes place in the bay around different courses including: Olympic, Pursuit, 'Round the Cans' & longer races to Redcar, Sunderland & Whitby.

THYC is a member of the North East Cruiser Racing Association (NECRA) together with the Wear Boating Association, Whitby, Sunderland, Coquet & The Royal Northumberland Yacht clubs.

NECRA offer its members the chance to take part in inter club Regattas, racing & passage racing on the North East Coast between the River Tay and Scarborough.
